We endeavour to partner with manufacturers who are ethical and committed to sustainability, use organic, repurposed and recycled materials, send your products in biodegradable packaging, use carbon offset carriers, and continue to research alternate solutions, looking for new and innovative ways of minimising our footprint by using materials and a supply chain that has a lower impact on the environment.

Our vision is to provide sustainable, functional and affordable products for everyone who values their health and the health of the planet.

PLASTIC POLLUTION

Here are some of the statistics that absolutely horrified us when developing our brand and researching the impacts of plastic pollution. This is what inspired us to create a brand that supports the removal of plastics from our oceans and waterways:

  • There is now 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean & 46,000 pieces in every square mile of ocean, weighing up to 269,000 tonnes.
  • Every day around 8 million pieces of plastic makes their way into our oceans.
  • The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is around 1.6 million square kilometres - bigger than Texas.
  • The world produces 381 million tonnes in plastic waste yearly – this is set to double by 2034. 50% of this is single-use plastic & only 9% has ever been recycled.
  • More than 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine animals die from plastic pollution every year.
  • 100% of baby sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs.

THE CLOTHING INDUSTRY AND SUSTAINABILITY

According to the Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia, Australians send around $500 million worth of fashion clothing to the tip each year, yet over 95% of it can be recycled and reused.

Globally we produce 13 million tons of textile waste each year.

This is simply not good enough and is the reason why we choose to use recycled and repurposed cottons and will continue to research and develop new and innovative ways to be as eco-friendly as we can possibly be, encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors while conserving our planet for future generations.

TURNING PLASTIC INTO FABRIC

RECYCLED P.E.T (Polyethylene Terephthalate) fabric uses plastic bottles to produce a recycled polyester fibre which not only reduces landfill, it causes far less air pollution than making new P.E.T. Recycled pet is a strong durable, performance fibre as it wicks away moisture and guarantees easy care.

At Ecofit Sports, we have partnered with one of the largest producers of rPET globally, based in the USA to source our fabrics, which are then sent to an audited factory in China for assembly.

EXTEND THE LIFECYCLE OF YOUR GARMENTS

We produce long lasting, quality garments, however if there ever comes a time you wish to dispose of your activewear,  we encourage the Ecofit Sports family to extend the lifecycle of their items by donating them to those in need or by finding a local textile recycling bank to dispose of them.

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

Ecofit Sports is committed to partner with manufacturers who are ethical, treat and pay workers fairly, ensure their workplace drives health and safety initiatives and promotes diversity and equity within the workforce.  Each approved supplier has been carefully selected and audited to ensure the health, safety and wellness of it's workers is paramount.

100% CARBON NEUTRAL DELIVERY

What is carbon neutral?

Increased carbon dioxide (and equivalent) - CO2e - levels are a significant and harmful contributor to climate change.

Most people don't consider the environmental impact of their online shopping deliveries–just clickety-click and, like magic, it's on your doorstep. But the logistics involved generate a huge amount of CO2 - over 10% of global CO2e emissions are from transport and logistics.

Being carbon neutral means that your net release of CO2e into the atmosphere is zero.

Basically, whatever CO2e you emit is cancelled out by a process known as 'offsetting' -  that is, supporting projects that reduce emissions, like regenerating precious forest, replacing old equipment with more efficient technology, or even training communities in beekeeping.

BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING

At Ecofit Sports, we aim to remove plastic from our products and packaging wherever possible. As a result, we're packing all your products in biodegradable packaging. From our mailers, our tissue paper that protects your garment in transit, and even our tape. They are made from bio-based materials that break down into oxygen, water and biomass when industrially composted.

This means they use a higher heat source to decompose but will break down within 90 days under specific conditions. To compost your poly bags send them to your local industrial composting facility.

And in order to remove any unnecessary plastics or packaging, we have decided to remove hang tags from your garments, meaning that there is no plastic packaging used in your order whatsoever.

TAKE 3 FOR THE SEA

Ecofit Sports are donating $1 from each sale to Take 3, to be able to support their mission to reduce global plastic pollution and waste. Every $3 that is donated to Take 3 helps them educate one person through their education programs.

THE TAKE 3 STORY

Take 3 launched as an organisation in 2010 after an idea where a simple action could produce profound consequences. Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere and you have made a difference. The Take 3 for the Sea movement was born.

Wherever we are, we are connected to the sea. The ocean provides us with the oxygen we breathe and the climate that sustains us. We need a healthy ocean for our own survival.

Plastic pollution is killing wildlife, devastating oceans and threatening the health of our planet. Plastic represents a disconnection. It’s a material designed to last forever that we often use only once. Poorly managed plastic leaks into the sea. The ocean is downhill from everywhere.

Through education that inspires participation, Take 3 is building a global movement of people who are connected to the planet.

Join our movement today.
